Synopsis

In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt (“A Quiet Place,” “The Girl on the Train”) stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

Truly “The Place Where Lost Things Go”...

Story: 4 | Acting: 4 | Visual: 5 | Music: 5 | Overall: 5

... and I mean it in a good way. Be brought back to the times in our lives where our minds were filled with endless wondrous imaginations, till we all outgrew them. Amidst the numerous magic, song and dance sequences sprouting everywhere in the movie, you will pick up the important life lessons hidden within, that can guide us through our lives, whether to deal with our past, present or future. Some viewers might be moved to tears. A must watch for everyone, including children. Movie is over 2 hours long, and uses old school opening where the initial credits and picture cards are at the beginning. Enjoy!

A great sequel!

What a great homage the original film! Loved the little details from playing a spoonful of sugar when Mary meets the original Banks children to the animation scenes. Also really liked how Emily decided to read the books and not follow Julie's as i felt that really made her stand out more. As for the music, you know it will never beat the original ones like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious but they were still great and very catchy! Was definitely not disappointed considering i was a huge Mary Poppins fan since i was a child.

Remembering the magic

A wonderful movie, perfect for the kids and kids at heart. I didn’t watch the original Mary Poppins movie and loved this anyway. Whimsical, magical and reminds us all not to lose the inner magic and imagination we’ve all had as kids. Simple storyline with some adventures and magic. Reminds me somewhat of the recent Christopher Robins (Winnie the Pooh) movie - that same kind of feel-good vibes, that carefree wonders of being a child all over again.
