So Fast So Drama: See Fast & Furious Star’s Epic Breakdown On Social Media

Fasten your seatbelts folks, because there’s more trouble brewing in the #family.

The long-standing feud between Fast and Furious stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel has now escalated into an all-out war – with the latest instalment of the drama revolving around Tyrese Gibson.

And to think it all began with an Instagram post…

Some Context:

While shooting Fast & Furious 8 last year, Johnson took a public jab at some of his male co-stars, calling them “candy asses” for their unprofessional behavior. At that point, it was all speculation as to whom he was referring to, but rumours began to circulate that he was referring to Vin Diesel.

Moreover, talk of how Johnson had been low-key planning to branch off after Fast & Furious 8 was also bandied about.

Wait, There’s More!

The rumoured bitterness was exacerbated when Diesel reportedly pulled a Fast & Furious 8 credits scene teasing a spinoff featuring Johnson and Jason Statham. Apparently, it was filmed without his knowledge, and naturally, as the producer and main decision-maker of the franchise, he “became enraged.”

But The Rock Ain’t Having It

In July, Johnson posted this on his Instagram, which all but confirmed that a spinoff was indeed in the pipeline:

Enter Tyrese

Just days ago, Johnson posted a seemingly innocuous image of him reviewing a movie contract, with a caption reading:

“Hmm, cool,” I said.

Then again, I’m not Tyrese, who after seeing Johnson’s post, went into full meltdown mode in front of his 93.5 million followers. In a since-deleted comment, Tyrese essentially begged him not to do it:

His skirmish didn’t end there – he was back at it again the next day, but this time, even more fast and a whole lot more… furious-er?

And again:

Up In Smoke?

Although a ninth and tenth film is still in the works, it’s not clear if Tyrese’s rants will have any impact on the future of the franchise – Johnson has yet to acknowledge any of Tyrese’s social media posts. Hopefully, they’ll smoothen things out soon for the sake of their fans.

After all, in the words of the wise Dominic Toretto, “you don’t turn your back on family, even when they do.”
